A coordination meeting was held to discuss the opening of skill-based vocational training courses that can support employment opportunities for those who have completed primary, middle, and high school education. The meeting took place this afternoon at the meeting hall, Office No. (13), Ministry of Education, Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Union Minister of Ministry of Education, Deputy Ministers of Education Dr. Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, deputy ministers from related ministries, officials concerned, the Rector of Naypyitaw State Academy, and other responsible officials. The Secretary General of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) participated online.
At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Ministry of Education has been conducting coordination meetings with relevant universities in order to create employment opportunities for those who completed the matriculation examination. Ministry of Education is preparing to open Job Ready Skill training courses that will last for three months, six months, and nine months respectively, based on the strengths of each university. Those who successfully complete the nine month course will receive a diploma and will have the opportunities to continue their education. The Union Minister also emphasized on providing better opportunities for those who completed primary and secondary education. And relevant ministries are requested to provide suggestions and cooperation.
The Ministry of Education has implemented industrial, agricultural, and livestock high schools. Students who have completed Grade 9 can continue their study in Grades 10, 11, and 12 in these schools which are currently 89 schools.
Furthermore, starting from the upcoming academic year, basic agriculture and industrial subjects will be included in the syllabuses for Grades 6, 7, 8, and 9. Ministry of Education is also underway to recruit qualified teachers to teach these subjects.
Then, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint explained the matters related to skill-based vocational training courses aimed at supporting employment for students who have not passed primary, middle, and high school levels.Afterwards, deputy ministers and responsible officials concerned discussed the current progress and preparations for opening skill training courses that support employment opportunities for those students.
Finally, the Union Minister provided additional remarks and concluded the meeting.
