The Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, accompanied by officials, met with rectors, pro-rectors, professors (head of departments), and faculty members from Myitkyina University and Mohnyin University at the convocation hall of Myitkyina University yesterday morning.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said that committees should be formed under the leadership of the rector to delegate the University cleanliness zones to ensure that university campuses remain clean, pleasant and in accordance with university standards.
She added that universities offer a wide range of academic disciplines and emphasized that professors and teachers should work together to promote library-based teaching and learning as well as research-based teaching and learning.
She also urged academic and administrative departments to put efforts to host an international academic conference at the university in the coming academic year.
In addition, she stressed the importance of organizing university sports competitions to nurture outstanding athletes and she also encouraged teachers and students to dress in a manner consistent with cultural values.
The Union Minister then responded to questions raised by teachers and arranged for necessary support.
After the meeting, the Union Minister toured the university campus, inspecting classrooms, the indoor sports hall and sports fields.
